Daniel Illingworth

You as a player: Brighouse Town AFC
Currently, I am an English semi-professional footballer playing for Evo-stik North First Division club Brighouse Town AFC. Over the last two successful seasons here, I have developed physically and become known as one of the more experienced members of the team and club itself. Despite my strongest position being centre-back, I have also progressed in my skills in other positions, such as defensive midfielder. During the most recent football season I was approached to lead the team as Captain in a West Riding County Cup match to a 5-0 victory, which led to our success in the latter stages of the competition. By doing so, I contributed to a successful campaign by the club which had been driven by the coaching staff at the start of the season.
Throughout my time at Brighouse, I have not only represented the club as a player but also as a strong member within the football community. An example of this would be the assisting with the development team of 16-20 year olds, including coaching and educating them and using my experiences and vast knowledge of the game to do so.
Leeds Trinity University
Alongside my academic studies of Physical Education and Sport Development (2:1), I played three seasons in the men’s first team in the BUCS (British University and College Sports) Northern League 2 and it was here that I was awarded Sportsman of the Year which was voted for by the University President and the lead lecturers within the department. Additionally, I captained the side on numerous occasions in successful league campaigns.
Bradford Schools Football Association, Halifax Town AFC and Bradford Park Avenue
As a teenager I represented BSFA competing both regionally and nationally, obtaining the Yorkshire Schools Premier League, Isle of Wight Schools Football Cup and the European Schools Cup in Holland respectively.
Following a successful trial at Halifax, I was offered a place on the Centre of Excellence Programme whereby I trained with the first team when they were competing in the Conference division.
After spending time at Halifax Town AFC I moved to Bradford Park Avenue, where I had a successful three seasons involved in the first team.
