Another week and another victory for Bruno’s Magpies in the new Gibraltar National League. Despite having been in the second-tier last year, the Magpies are top the league with three wins from three. At the weekend they defeated College 1975 FC 3-1 and it was Soccer Smart’s very own Ollie Ford who gave the Magpies the lead and helped send them on the way to victory. The 22-year-old’s performance saw him named in the team of the week! It was a third goal in as many games for the former Droylsden forward.

Soccer Smart’s Max Landau’s college is now ranked second nationally

Last year, Soccer Smart helped Darlington-born midfielder Max Landau secure a USA soccer scholarship at Lander University. After impressing in his first season, he is now in his second year with the college and they have got their new campaign off to an absolute flier. The Bearcats have started the season with four consecutive wins and with the help of Landau in midfield, they have now risen to be ranked as the second best college nationally in NCAA Division II. It is a fantastic achievement for the college and shows the type of high-level colleges which Soccer Smart can help place you in.

One destination for people who attend one of our UK football trials is to sign for our partner club in Spain, Alicante City FC. Last weekend the team played their first ever match in the sixth-tier of Spanish football after achieving promotion last season.

The team started their campaign with a tricky away game against Racing San Gabriel and unfortunately fell to a 4-2 loss. However ACFC look to bounce back this weekend with a home match against UD Benissa this Sunday.

What a season for Garrett

What a season for Garrett

When Soccer Smart USA helped Garrett Matacale head to Australia to play football abroad, we were all hopeful of a successful season and we weren’t wrong as he has smashed it down under. Playing for Monaro Panthers U20s, Garrett scored five goals in 16 matches to help his team win the league grand final. His performances also saw him named as the club’s players’ player of the year! What a season for Garrett, congratulations!
